New UHMW Plant
Ticona is on schedule to open their new 30,000 metric tons/year (approx. 60 million lbs/year) plant in Bishop, TX later this year. They will manufacture ultra-high molecular weight polythylene (UHMW-PE) at this facility, replacing a smaller-existing GURÒ plant in Bay City, TX. Ticona UHMW-PE is sold under the trademark-registered name GUR.

Ticona, the technical polymers business of Celanese AG, Frankfurt, produces and markets a broad range of engineering polymers and achieved sales of EUR 773 million in 2001. The company has production, compounding and research facilities in the USA, Germany, the UK and Brazil.
