ATOFINA Safety Awards
ATOFINA Petrochemicals, Inc. was recognized with seven safety awards from the National Petrochemicals & Refiners Association (NPRA). They received the seven awards for workplace safety. The Cosmar Styrene Plant, LaPorte Polypropylene Plant, and Port Arthur Refinery received Gold Awards. The Bayport HDPE Plant, Cosmar Styrene Plant, LaPorte Polypropylene Plant, and Port Arthur Refinery received Meritorious Safety Performance Awards.

Gold Award certificates were presented for achieving at least a 25% reduction in the total recordable incidence rate during 2001 compared to the average three previous years. The Award for Meritorious Safety Performance was presented for an incidence rate of 1.5 or less for 2001.

The awards are based on records kept for employees in accordance with OSHA record-keeping requirements. The Safety Awards Program was developed to promote accident prevention in the petroleum industries, and to publicly recognize companies with excellent safety records.
