SPE Parts Competition Winners

With a theme of “Adapting to Form the Future,” the 17th Annual Society of Plastics Engineers’ (SPE) Thermoforming Conference unveiled the winners of their Annual Thermoforming Parts Competition. The competition was open to all thermoformed components from processors, designers, toolmakers and OEMs. The judging of the competition took place onsite during the conference, and judging criteria was based on creativity, originality, design complexity, surface finish, secondary operations, technical difficulty and innovation. The award categories were broadened this year to address the increase in entries and allow for multiple winners.

Heavy Gauge, Cut Sheet Vacuum Forming
Gold: Penda Corporation for their “Tonneau Cover”
Silver: Ameriform for their “Sea Doo”
Bronze: Golden Plastics Corporation for their “Radome Assembly”

Pressure Forming
Gold: Specialty Manufacturing, Inc. for their “Podiatry Chair”
Silver: Specialty Manufacturing, Inc. for their “Scan Scope Cover”
Bronze: Ray Products for their “Cover Assembly Unit

Twin-Sheet
Spencer Industries, Inc. for their “Shelter Trailer”

Multi-Parts Assembly
Wilbert Plastics Services for their “CT/PET Covers”

Peoples Choice
