Aquarium Draws Visitors

International Concept Management (ICM) recently finished the construction of a 16,000-gallon salt-water aquarium inside of the SCHEELS sporting goods store in Springfield, Illinois. This aquarium is designed to attract customers and add a level of interaction to the store for people of all ages.

The exhibit is a double-arched aquarium that is supported by three pillars. The pillars and arches are all connected and completely filled with water, rockwork, and all other habitat necessities for sea life. Inside of the aquarium, there are over 550 species of fish, including an assortment of triggerfish, clown fish, puffer fish and several other coral reef species.

ICM also kept safety in mind when designing and building this aquarium. The walls of the aquarium are made of acrylic, which is a material that is 17 times stronger than glass and four times stronger than cement. The pillars are engineered to hold the structure in place and withstand catastrophic events, such as an earthquake. As for the fish, they are in good hands with a water filtration system that filters over 40,000-gallons of water per hour, keeping the tank constantly clean.

The SCHEELS aquarium has already been a proven success attracting customers each day for the live feedings and interactive scuba diver during special times of the week.
