MACHINING ACRYLIC WITH DIAMONDS
LACH Diamond, Inc. designs, manufactures and services a variety of tooling for the plastics industry. According to Jeff Kozacki, President of Clarity Plus, an aquarium fabricator, "Lach's diamond edge polishing cutter produces a smooth, clear edge finish." The cutter is made from a combination of natural and polycrystalline diamonds.
Also available is a variety of diamond milling bits. Improved quality and increased production time are two reasons to consider diamond tooling for machining acrylic. Kozacki reports their polishing cutter runs an average of 4 weeks (6 hrs/day) before needing service and their milling bit is used up to 5 months.
