PORTABLE VACUUM CLAMPING BED
Carter Products has available a brochure on their new Mini Mach(tm) Portable Vacuum Clamping Bed. Powered by a shop vacuum, it can be used to hold material for routing, sanding, hand planing, sawing, and other applications. When vacuum is activated, the gasketed underside of the product grips the surface of the workbench. The gasketed top surface, equipped with 12 vacuum cells of various sizes each with a spring-loaded vacuum valve, holds the workpiece in place without the need for clamps, jigs or other workholding fixtures. A vented hose adapter in the unit fits all hoses and nozzles with an internal diameter of 1" to 1-3/8". Adapters are available for larger size hoses. The 12 vacuum cells can hold workpieces as small as 4 x 4 inches and as large as 4 x 4 feet. After machining has been performed, the vacuum control tap releases work instantly. Weighing about 7 pounds, the sturdy unit is easily portable and hangs up by its handle when not in use.
