PE-UHMW
Ticona, manufacturer of a variety of plastic materials, currently controls approximately 50% of the world market of 65,000 metric tons of high molecular weight polyethylene (PE-UHMW). They have two manufacturing plants, the latest of which was expanded to 30,000 tons at the beginning of 1996. The largest regional market for PE-UHMW is North America, accounting for some 54% of world demand, followed by Europe with 34%. The least developed market is Asia, although the growth rate of12% on that continent is higher than average.
