THREADED INSERTS
An updated bulletin covering SI® threaded inserts for plastics is available from Penn Engineering & Manufacturing Corp. SI inserts are generally specified in applications where strong, durable metal threads are required in plastic material, particularly when frequent disassembly and reassembly of the unit for service or repair is necessary. Since they allow for quick and easy component removal, brass, stainless steel or aluminum inserts are a practical alternative to permanently bonded adhesives or rivets. Profiled are ultrasonic/heat staking threaded inserts and SI press-in threaded inserts. All are available in a wide range of unified and metric thread sizes.
