MAT CUTTER
Saw Trax Mfg. introduced the Knife Trax® mat cutter. Instead of using the standard knife blade attached to a guide device found in other mat cutters, they use two guide channels that act as a clamp while it guides the blade. The design eliminates any wander or bend in the razor blade because the channel is in front and behind the material being cut, thus a thinner and sharper blade can be used producing a cleaner cut. The supplied rectangular shaped razor knife blades are easily and instantly renewed by simply snapping off the used blade segments.
A second advantage is in the clamping of material. While other machines only clamp on one side of the cut, the Knife Trax clamps on both sides of the cut within 1/32nd of the blade. Clamping on both sides better secures the cut material during the cutting process and prevents tear away problems at the buttom of the cut and beveled edges.
The machine includes an OLFA Razor Knife. Options include a mid-fence for making waist high cuts, a quick measuring system for making repeat cuts, and a stand when mounting to a wall is not acceptable.
