WEATHERABLE POLYCARBONATE FILM
Bayer Corporation has introduced a new Makrofol® polycarbonate-based film designed for ultraviolet-sensitive applications, including various types of nameplates, labels, signage and display windows.
Makrofol DPF 5005 maintains its high light transmission and low yellowness index even after accelerated weathering in the laboratory, according to Shu Liu, Ph.D., Product Development Specialist in Bayer's Plastics Division. "What's more, it offers second surface printability and maintains accurate graphic registration regardless of the forming method used," he said.
The new film's initial standard texture features a velvet-textured first surface and a fine matte second surface, but gloss first and second surfaces and a variety of other textures are possible. Bayer offers the film in gauges ranging between .007 and .030 inches. With its excellent clarity and flatness, the film is transparent and colorless. Other options include colored, translucent or opaque varieties.
