Material Yield System Released
Syspro Impact Software, Inc., a provider of IMPACT Encore™ enterprise/supply chain software, has announced the general release of a new module designed for manufacturers and distributors that cut shapes and pieces from standard size materials (i.e. sheets, rods, and tubes) as part of their manufacturing/fabricating process. Specifically, the new Material Yield System is targeted at the Plastics, Steel, Rubber, Paper and Lumber industries which need to maximize yields, minimize waste and, where possible, return remnants to inventory.
The new Material Yield System, offered as an option to Version 5.0 of Syspro’s IMPACT Encore supply chain software, accommodates a seamless integrated workflow to satisfy a series of common requirements including customer specific dimensional requirements, automatic yield calculations from full sheets and stock remnants, and the return of scraps to inventory with the automatic creation of new part numbers and pricing. Moreover, the new module will attempt to fill custom orders from existing inventory, another branch’s inventory, the purchasing of material from a vendor, or a combination of each.
According to Brian Stein, president, Syspro Impact Software, Inc., "The Material Yield System is highly intelligent software. For instance, when a new order comes in and there are insufficient sheets, rods, tubes and/or scraps to fill the order, the system will first attempt to allocate outstanding purchase orders to satisfy the customer requirements before any new P.O. is placed with a vendor. Among other automatic functionalities, the system assigns part numbers and values to remnants that are returned to stock."
