Quick Change Carriage
Saw Trax Mfg. Inc. has developed a new carriage for their panel cutting machines. With this insert, two pins are pulled and the saw is rotated 90, allowing saw direction to be changed in seconds. The new insert also allows customers the option to upgrade their machine and still use the router or knife inserts.

The redesigned carriage has many advantages. By making the standard saw insert plate larger, bigger saws now fit in the carriage. Up to a 10" saw can be attached and by using taller guide tube support brackets, the depth of cut can now be increased to over 2 1/2". Also, longer European saws with built-in riving knives can be attached. Finally, the most powerful hand held circular saw, the new Bosch 15 amp. Worm drive, can be used with the larger saw insert plate.

An added benefit is the redesigned method of attaching the tool insert. As the insert is rotated into the carriage from the bottom lip, four aligning pins fit through holes in the insert and assure exact alignment. Two spring-loaded pins that can be locked up with a 1/4 turn are attached to the top edge of the carriage. While the insert is in the carriage, the pins are lowered into the holes. This prevents the insert from rotating out of the carriage. To change an insert, pull up and rotate the two spring-loaded pins. There are no knobs or fasteners to drop, screw or lose. The tool change process takes less than 8 seconds.
