Perimeter Guarding System
Accu-Router, Inc. makes readily available a perimeter guarding system for each one of their CNC routers. It is in response to the ANSI 01.1 - 1992 standard which states that any automated machine with a moving table, bridge, and/or spindles must incorporate perimeter guarding to help avoid the hazards of pinching, mashing, or crushing of body members of a machine operator or third party. This ANSI standard also states that it is the responsibility of the owner/employer to provide such perimeter guarding, to assure its ongoing use and to train the employees on its use.

Accu-Router has chosen a perimeter guarding system design that is comprised of cyclone fencing and a 36" wide unitized safety mat that are both permanently affixed to a customer's floor and then interlocked to the machine CNC control. The safety mat surrounds the normal working/access area of the machine table. The cyclone fencing encircles the machine bridge and rear.

If the safety mat were stepped on during operation, the machine would immediately go into a "feed hold" condition, with the spindle running. The operator could simply depress the cycle start control button to continue the current CNC program. If either fence opening were opened during machine operation, the machine would immediately go into an "Emergency Stop" condition with the spindle off. The operator would have to reset the machine and go back to the beginning of a part program to resume production.
