Habitat For Humanity
At IWF 2002, SCM Group USA presented seminars featuring cell-manufacturing technology for cabinet manufacturing. In the presentations, the cabinets were donated to North Fulton County (Georgia) Habitat for Humanity. Over the course of the show and during subsequent sessions at Georgia Tech’s Advanced Wood Products Laboratory, cabinetry for four houses was manufactured and assembled.
Other suppliers contributing to this project included Cabnetware, which provided the design software, CADCode Systems for G-code generation and labeling software, Häfele North America for all hardware, Stevens Panel for providing material, and Production Resources for design and presentation assistance.
Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit, ecumenical, Christian housing ministry that seeks to eliminate poverty housing and to make decent shelter a matter of conscience. Monetary and in-kind donations are combined with volunteer labor to build simple, decent houses. The houses are sold to worthy families at no profit and financed by Habitat at no interest. One hundred percent of sponsor donations and homeowner mortgage payments are used towards the construction of new homes.
