MediTECH®, the medical polymers division of Poly Hi Solidur, Inc., announced the acquisition of a new state-of-the-art compression molding press and reconfiguration of its manufacturing area.

According to Mark Evans, MediTECH Worldwide Business Manager, the new press embodies the latest compression molding technology, giving MediTECH an additional resource to meet the current needs of existing customers and the opportunity to provide new products to support a growing global market.

“This cutting-edge equipment, which has been designed to incorporate the best of the processing capabilities and technologies we’ve developed over the past 30 years, represents the only compression molding press designed and built exclusively to produce UHMW for the medical implant industry,” Evans said.

“Dedicating the press as single-purpose means our cus-tomers can be assured that product quality will remain consistently high and supply will be available when ordered,” he continued. “In addition, it allowed us to incorporate and build in process controls that no other press in the world has. The press also has new technologies such as inert processing and new mold loading built in to enhance cleanliness and consistency.” The new press will be fully operational by the fourth quarter of this year.
