Spectar Chandeliers
Crystal-like
chandeliers
made of Eastman
Chemical Company’s
Spectar copolyester
shone
brilliantly, lighting
up the Eastman
Innovation
Lab suite at the
famous Chelsea Hotel.
Designer Jessica Corr designed
and engineered the unique illuminating fixtures specifically
for a New York design event using hundreds of Spectar
copolyester tensile bars.
Forming Corr’s chandeliers are bundled and terraced
strips of Spectar copolyester congregated around a light
source. “My goal was an end result that referenced traditional
chandelier components while considering this
unique, contemporary material,” said Corr. “Although I find
the quality of light alone to be beautiful, these Spectar
copolyester chandeliers demonstrate a magnificent blend
of refracted light and unparalleled clarity at every bend.”
Eastman’s Spectar copolyester can be extruded into
plastic sheet that is crystal clear, tough, chemical-resistant,
versatile, easy to work with and affordable—making
it ideally suited for use in displays, signs, fixtures, pointof-
purchase and industrial products and other demanding
sheet applications. Spectar copolyester product advantages
are demonstrated through a variety of fabrication
techniques, including screen printing, die cutting, solvent
bonding, laser cutting, machining and thermoforming.
Corr’s chandeliers as end-use applications emphasize specific
product qualities and stimulate the imagination to
contemplate future design possibilities.
