Window Grade Polycarbonate
Sheffield Plastics Inc. has announced that Makrolon®
WG (Window Grade) polycarbonate sheet is now available
in sheets ranging in
thickness from .750”
thick up to 2” thick.
Previous Sheffield polycarbonate
sheet products
had a maximum
thickness of up to .500”.
This new thickness
range makes Makrolon
WG ideal for a variety of
challenging environments
ranging from containment
to use for fabricated
parts. It has many times the impact strength and
less than half the weight of glass. The superior strength of
the material, combined with its clarity and excellent
dimensional stability, makes it ideal for many demanding
applications, including sight windows for tanks/vessels,
viewport windows, medical parts and some military parts.
Makrolon WG is an amorphorus thermoplastic made
from Bayer’s Makrolon polycarbonate resin. The polycarbonate
sheet offers extremely high impact strength and
high modulus of elasticity. It features excellent clarity,
dimensional stability and good dielectric properties. It
offers excellent thermal performance and is fabricationfriendly.
It also demonstrates low levels of black speck
contaminates or other impurities and is UV stable.
