Polycarbonate Windshields
Building windshields to meet the
demands of the most rugged
recreational vehicles in the powersports
industry has
always been
part of the Sportech commitment
to quality. The Elk River, Minnesota
ISO 9001:2000 certified company
produces original equipment accessories
and production components
for motorcycles, snowmobiles, allterrain
vehicles, personal watercraft
and utility vehicles. They also
manufacture and market innovative
accessories for the after-market
including products such as
their Cobra™ snowmobile and ATV windshields,
Holeshot™ snowmobile skid plates and their recently
introduced Chrome Series Windscreens for the sport
bike market.
Sportech chose a special, high-quality grade of polycarbonate
for their original equipment utility and all-terrain
vehicle windshields they manufacture for a major OE supplier.
Sportech uses clear, 0.080,
0.092 and 0.118” thick
MAKROLON® OP Optical Grade
Polycarbonate Sheet material from
Sheffield Plastics Inc., a Bayer
MaterialScience Company. They
also use MAKROLON Sheet for
their innovative motorcycle aftermarket
windshields.
They chose MAKROLON
because of its superior optical clarity,
unmatched durability, UV stability
and incredible impact-resistance.
The high impact of the sheet
makes it virtually unbreakable. It is
also approved for Consumer Product Safety Commission
(CPSC 16CFR 1201) categories I & II and ANSI Z97.1-
1984 Safety Glazing Standards.
The sheet has a clear, polished surface and is UV stabilized
for use in premium visual applications. With excellent
optical clarity, it is manufactured to stringent visual specifications
that meet or exceed the physical properties of
any product in its class.
