Change

Change - not the kind you dig for in your pocket to pay for that overpriced cup of coffee. I’m talking about the kind of change to make different, to alter, whether it¹s ones views or location. We hope you noticed that something had changed when you picked up our magazine this month. We have a new logo. It’s crisp, contemporary and a lot easier to say when answering the phone!

What was the genesis of this desire to change? We’re moving. By the time you receive this magazine we¹ll be in our new offices just a few miles away. Someone once told me “go big or go home.” So when we decided to move, an exciting, frustrating and sometimes unnerving process in and of itself, we felt it would be a good time to update our look. We hope you like it. Rest assured that while the cover of the book has changed, we will continue to do our best to bring you the most targeted information you will need to stay current and competitive in the plastic shapes industry.

Change comes in many forms from a logo or a location to a way of thinking. In our cover feature this month Mike Alongi of MAAC Machinery illustrates The Rotary Advantage. The modern sheet fed rotary thermoforming machine offers many advantages. Whether you utilize a rotary or are competing with one, the technology implemented in the rotary has made it a much more versatile machine. Prototyping is a critical phase of product development. Designers and engineers must determine how best to combine form and function, aesthetics and ergonomics, durability and performance in an appealing package. Click on Sheet Offers Versatility In Product Development to learn how the ability to form complex shapes from thermoformed sheet can reduce the time and cost of product development.

When Hart Supply, a full service plastics distributor and fabricator, decided it was time to replace their out-of-date saw, they found one that not only increased productivity and accuracy, it provided the edge quality on acrylic that its customers were demanding. Click on CNC Pressure Beam Saw Increases Accuracy and Productivity to read how they updated and upgraded their shop. PET is a popular material for thermoforming. Each of its many formulations provide unique characteristics. Click on Routing & Trimming PET to learn how different cutting tools, spindle speeds, feed rates and fixturing can help you optimize finish and production rates.

We’re not the only ones on the move. OSHA is stepping up their enforcement of many issues that could impact your shop. To learn more, click on Safety Solutions.

One last change. Please change your records to reflect our new address and phone/fax numbers which you will find in the blue box on the right of this page.

Enjoy the issue,
