VIVAK® Used in Extreme Makeover: Home Edition
Sheffield Plastics Inc., a Bayer
MaterialScience Company,
along with its distributor A & C
Plastics, Inc., donated
Sheffield
VIVAK® Thermoplastic Sheet to
the ABC network television show
Extreme Makeover: Home
Edition.
The show features a team of
designers that work together to
remodel the homes of deserving
families. The sheet material was used for the remodel of
two children’s bedrooms.
VIVAK was used in one bedroom
as the material for large thermoformed
“bubbles” that were fixed
to the walls and ceiling. Another
bubble was used as a hanging
chair. In the second bedroom,
VIVAK was used for large thermoformed
candy canes and a “chocolate
bar” table. This theme was
inspired by the Candy Land®
board game.
“VIVAK Sheet is a really incredible material, not only
because of its durability, but because it is very easy to form
and fabricate,” said Carolyn Faulk, president of A & C
Plastics in Houston, Texas. “I knew from watching the show
that they were probably going to do something really creative,
so we wanted to donate a very versatile material.”
VIVAK Sheet is a high-performance thermoplastic sheet
with exceptional formability and outstanding impact
strength. The sheet forms uniformly at lower temperatures,
for greater detail and deeper draws, complex die-cuts and
precise molded-in details without the webbing and sag usually
associated with acrylic. VIVAK can also be easily decorated
by painting, silk screening or hot stamping.
