Composite Tube

Norplex-Micarta introduced RT628, a phenolic- paper composite tube material with superior machining characteristics. RT628 is less rigid than standard phenolicpaper tubing, reducing machining time and costs. The material provides both electrical insulation and moisture resistance, making it ideal for use in electrical or general-purpose applications such as: inserts, bushings, washers, rollers, collars, spacers, sleeves, guide tubes and processing rollers. The machining properties of tube also make it ideal for smaller, more complex components that require challenging machining patterns.

Typical properties for the material are tensile strength of 12,300 psi, compressive strength of 22,500 psi and moisture absorption of 1.3%. RT628 meets NEMA XX requirements.
