Shopbot Jamboree
More than 100 cabinetmakers, designers, do-it-yourselfers,
luthiers, boatbuilders, sign makers, plastic
manufacturers and other CNC craftsmen and enthusiasts –
known to each other as “ShopBotters” – converged on the
towns of San Mateo and Foster City, CA for the sixth-annual
ShopBot Jamboree. The reason for their meeting was
twofold: to learn the ins and outs of ShopBot Tools’ new line
of Personal Robotic Systems and to learn, from ShopBot
staff, CNC professionals, software company representatives
and each other, the ways in which ShopBots can help make
CNC-based businesses more enjoyable and lucrative.
ShopBotters presented or participated in seminars and discussions
that included topics such: as proper cutting bit selection,
vacuum hold-down methods, prototyping, indexing and
marketing your business. Attendees also had the opportunity
to participate in a condensed version of ShopBot Basic Training
or a ShopBotting for Women class, and the most creative
minds brought their visions to life in the Box Design Contest.
