Laser Marking of Plastics
Patent Pending VectorJet™ Laser
Marking Technology, developed
by The Sabreen Group, Inc., is gaining
widespread interest by the fabrication
and machining industries
for permanent marking of plastic
stock and custom shapes. Those in
the stock shape industry are all too
familiar with the technical limitations of commonly used
marking techniques such as inkjet and preprinted labels
(bad adhesion and expensive) and traditional laser marking
(poor contrast). VectorJet Technology overcomes these
obstacles and achieves high-contrast, indelible marking
on most engineering plastics, including those that have
been traditionally difficult, if not impossible, to laser mark
such as acetals, nylons and polyolefins.
VectorJet Laser Marking Technology allows plastics fabricators
to permanently mark alphanumeric text, lot/batch
codes, machine vision codes (1D bar codes and 2D data
matrix codes) and micro-marking (0.020” and smaller).
This new technology achieves unprecedented marking
contrast (“dark-on-light”, “light-on-dark” and color “tone on-
tone”) with outstanding line edge detail, resolution up
to 800 DPI and speed for marking plastic shapes such as
rod, sheet, tubular bars and custom products.
