Copolyester Sheet for Orthopedic Use
Improved extrusion technology at Spartech’s Evanston,
Illinois facility now enables production of Spectar™ copolyester
from Eastman Chemical Company. Spartech Corporation is now producing sheet in sizes of 3/8" and 1/2" thicknesses
for use in the orthopedic medical device market.
The sheet is available in 4' x 8' sizes off the floor; 8" x
10" hand samples are also available. It is highly chemical
resistant and non-corrosive making it the perfect choice
for thermoforming orthopedic casts, chest protectors,
neck braces and nursery isolettes. Spectar copolyester
sheet is also recyclable. Overages and trim can be
reground and reprocessed into
other nonmedical products.
Spectar copolyester is a thermoplastic
sheet used in engineering
applications and offers
the capability to produce complex
shapes, precise details,
deep draws and compound
curves without worrying about
durability. It is easily formed,
die-cut and punched. It brings
increased design freedom and
lower fabrication costs. This
copolyester composition has
passed appropriate ISO 10993 biocompatibility testing.
