Metal Detectable Plastic Receives Certification of Compliance for Food Use
Ensinger’s TECAFORM™ AH ID (POM-C), a polyoxymethylene
copolymer containing an additive that makes it easily
and quickly detected by metal detectors if broken pieces
from machinery contaminate food during processing, has
been evaluated under terms of the test regimen contained
in 3-Sanitary Standards for Multiple Use Plastic Materials,
Number 20-25. The Certification of Compliance says this
product is formulated
using polyacetal
base resin that is
compliant for use in
food contact applications
according to
(CFR), Title 21,
177.2470, and any
additives, that may
be present, comply with appropriate, specific FDA regulations.
Certified for use with all types of food except foods
containing 15% or more alcohol, TECAFORM AH ID provides
security against contamination during processing of
a wide variety of food products. Its resistance to chemicals
and cleaning agents make it ideal for use in the production
of meat patties, sausages, and other formed foods; fruit
juices and dairy products; pasta and pastries; and applications
in food and pharmaceutical packaging.
The material can be easily and quickly detected if equipment
failure causes pieces of material to mix with food
being processed. Material can be immediately detected
using standard metal detectors during routine quality
inspection procedures. In addition to being easily detected,
TECAFORM AH ID features all of the properties needed
to produce high quality plastic components for food
processing and other machinery. It is being used in housing
parts, agitators, kneading elements, and wiper blades
for the food industry.
