Get Help from OSHA & SBA
The Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA)
and the Small Business Administration (SBA), along with
their partnering group, Service Corps of Retired
Executives (SCORE), will exhibit at AWFS Fair, July 20 –
23, 2011 in Las Vegas. The two groups will offer daily presentations
on topics of relevance to the woodworking
industry.
Each day of the show, Art Sipple and Don Evans from
the State of Nevada OSHA Safety Consultation & Training
Section will discuss common citations and how to avoid
them daily at 3 p.m. on the show floor. Sessions will
include: General Regulations (Wednesday), Woodworking
Machinery (Thursday), Hazard Communication (Friday)
and Lockout/Tagout (Saturday).
Sipple and Evans will also present a seminar in the general
College of Woodworking Knowledge (CWWK) education
program entitled, OSHA Safety & Health Guidelines:
Voluntary or Mandatory? The course will run on
Wednesday, July 20 from 1 – 2:30 p.m.
The SBA and SCORE share a booth and will give daily
presentations on What SBA and SCORE Can do for You!
These two organizations work hand in hand to support
small businesses in the areas of loan programs, business
and financial plans, marketing, small business insurance
and loss prevention, contracts and business counseling, as
well as many other topics. Attendees can get timely information
on new loan programs, for instance. The SBA and
SCORE work nationally so show-goers can follow up in
their home states with information gleaned at the show.
Stop by to hear their daily presentation at 11 a.m.
AWFS is offering all of these programs free to attendees
as a service to the industry. Advance registration is
required for the College of Woodworking Knowledge seminar
and panel. The OSHA and SBA booths will be located
in the North Hall.
