Curbell Combines Facilities

Curbell Plastics, Inc., one of the nation’s premier suppliers of plastic sheet, rod, tube, film, adhesives, sealants, and prototyping materials, has relocated its two San Diego operations to one new, larger facility to better serve its customers. The new facility, located in Chula Vista, California combines fabrication and distribution capabilities under one roof.

The 26,000 sq. ft. facility more than doubles the combined square footage of its existing operations, allowing for greater efficiency and the ability to grow. The facility will also include new equipment including a C.R. Onsrud router and a computerized Schelling saw. The two San Diego locations were recent acquisitions.

According to James Forcellina, Senior Regional Director for Curbell Plastics, “More space, new equipment and the right personnel will significantly enhance our ability to focus on our customer and their requirements. Integrating both M&M Plastics and Cal Plastics and Metals into the Curbell Plastics family has been a very smooth transition and we expect the new facility will allow us to continue to offer highly responsive customer service, both in fabrication and distribution.” SUBHEAD

Curbell Supports Eagle Scout Project

Curbell Plastics also recently supported an aspiring Eagle Scout with a donation of materials for the construction of a U.S. Flag Retirement Box for the Town of Amherst, New York, where residents can respectfully “retire” worn or damaged flags by simply placing them in the box.

Adam Fisher, a member of Boy Scout Troop 457, reached out to Curbell Plastics to request materials for a retirement box that could withstand sunlight and inclement weather since it was to be used outside Amherst Town Hall for easy access by residents. This type of project is one of the final steps Troop members take before becoming an Eagle Scout, the highest level that can be attained as a Boy Scout.

Curbell Plastics donated UV stabilized HDPE to ensure the box would not deteriorate or fade over time. The materials were red and blue to highlight the patriotic nature of the project, an important factor in demonstrating respect for retiring flags.

According to Jeffrey Wangler, Buffalo-area sales representative for Curbell Plastics, “I learned a lot helping out on this project. I was unaware of flag retirement boxes prior to meeting Adam. We were delighted to help this young man as he completed his final project to become an Eagle Scout and are happy to have contributed to an important service for the Town of Amherst.” A dedication ceremony was held earlier this year at Amherst Town Hall that included participation from local veterans, Purple Star recipients, and a military color guard.
