Crystal Clear Edges
Face protection and protective guards - the Corona era evokes the advantages of a well-known material: but the efficient machining of this material is complex. Special tools such as Hufschmied's Plexiglas milling cutter 110FPRV "Raven-V" are needed here.

A challenge in the machining of PMMA, acrylic, Plexiglas ® or Makrolon® is that these plastics become too hot during processing and may even melt. Their answer to this problem is the 110FPRV milling tool. An innovative cutting-edge geometry allows the sensitive transparent materials to be machined burr-free and with virtually crystal-clear cutting edges despite high feed rates. With the roughing and finishing tool, machining is possible in one step without tool change and without re-polishing. Additionally, superior tool life increases efficiency and profitability.

Other tools in the series are the radius cutter 110FPER for 3D machining and the V slot cutter 110V, the tool for lettering, chamfering or profile cuts. You can find more information about these tools in their product flyer.

Multi-Color Engravable Polymer Sheet
Founded in 1921, Summit Metro Parks in Ohio conserves and sustainably manages a collective 14,300 acres. The annual attendance average is 5 million visitors across 16 parks, several conservation areas, over 125 miles of trails, and 22.4 miles of the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail.

Hampton Hills Metro Park is approximately 655 acres. The new outdoor signs include an entrance park sign and new Mountain Bike trailhead signs to indicate the trail is open or closed. The signs are made with 3/4” gauge, 48” x 96” size sheets of King ColorCore®, the multi-color engravable polymer sheet, in a custom color of brown/ yellow/brown. The main entrance sign has a bright yellow, reflective aluminum component, and routed leaf to match the Summit Metro Parks branding.

Summit Metro Park’s signs were originally made from Douglas Fir lumber that often needed to be primed and stained. In 2015, the signs were replaced with King ColorCore ® a high-density polyethylene (HDPE) material that is environmentally stabilized and developed to withstand the harshest outdoor conditions. It will not rust, delaminate, or rot when exposed to humidity or water. The new signs are low maintenance and will never need painting or refinishing.

Large-Format CO2 Laser
Kern Lasers introduces their economical, large-format CO2 laser the EcoFlex. Available in 50 - 250 watts with work areas of 52” x 50” or 52” x 100”. This laser is a perfect economical solution to manufacturers of signs and P.O.P products.

Signs incorporating LED backlighting is found everywhere these days. The translucent acrylic can be placed on the front side of the LED lit panel, consisting of high-efficiency LED light strips which are snapped to the edge of the acrylic panels which effectively diffuse light across a dot or line pattern laser etched into the acrylic sheet. This creates a brightly lit panel with a consistent glow.

At Kern Laser they understand the relationship between lasers and acrylic, and they invite you to inquire about which laser system is right for your needs.

Corrugated PP
Interstate Plastics now offers Bubble-X™, a premium eco-friendly fluted polypropylene signage solution.

Corrugated polypropylene, also called fluted polypropylene, is commonly seen in signage applications including outdoor advertising, billboards, and screen printing, as well as in industrial and agricultural packaging, construction, and shelters. Fluted polypropylene is more robust than corrugated fiberboard and lighter than non-fluted plastics. It’s waterproof, weather resistant, and stain resistant, performing well under in harsh weather conditions and when exposed to hard water or harsh chemicals.

Bubble-X™ by Primex is a high-quality co-extruded polypropylene that is quickly becoming a popular alternative to both expanded PVC and regular fluted polypropylene. This 100% recyclable, non-toxic, hypoallergenic, and eco-friendly air bubble corrugated sheet has a matte finish similar to expanded PVC but offers some of the highest resistance to challenging outdoor environments of any signage material. It also remains easy to work with when screen printing, digital printing, die cutting, scoring, folding, gluing, stapling, grommeting, drilling, laser cutting, and sonic welding.

Bubble-X™ is a green choice for those looking for a signage material that can be recycled into a normal waste stream. It’s also an excellent choice for outdoor signage, enduring conditions too harsh for standard grades of fluted polypropylene.
