LATE BREAKING NEWS

Quadrant Contributes Toward Purchase Of Processing Equipment

Students in Pennsylvania College of Technology's programs will continue learning at the leading edge of plastics technology thanks to the generosity of Quadrant Engineering Plastic Products and several other major companies.

The contribution has been used by PCT, Williamsport, PA, to purchase a polymer extrusion gear pump system for use on its laboratory extrusion line. The extrusion lab for PCT's Plastics and Polymer Technology programs already was equipped with most components of a modern line and the addition of the extrusion gear pump system enhances the capabilities of the polymer processing laboratory's study programs.

Students will be able to use the new equipment to test and verify fundamental principles taught in the classroom and laboratory, making them better acquainted with industry manufacturing and development methods and technologies.

Other companies contributing to the purchase of the extrusion gear pump were PPL Electric Utilities, West Pharmaceutical Services and Alcan Cable.

PCT is one of a few U.S. colleges offering Plastics and Polymer Technology education programs recognized by the Accredited Board of Engineering and Technology. The college offers both a bachelor's degree in Plastics and Polymer Engineering Technology and an associate degree in Plastics and Polymer Technology. Penn College is an affiliate of The Pennsylvania State University.

Quadrant EPP's products range from nylon and acetal to ultra-high-performance polymers that resist temperatures to over 800° F (425° C) while maintaining strength and stability.
