LUBRICATED PBT SHAPES
A. L. Hyde is offering a family of extruded stock shapes manufactured from a lubricated PBT composite. These products are based on a proprietary Lubricomp® compound from LNP Engineering Plastics which outperforms acetal, nylon, and PET-P when used in a wide range of food industry equipment components.
According to Ken Schwartz, Director of Technical Services, "With its outstanding wear and chemical resistance, this self-lubricating material, which we market under the tradename Hydex 4101L, is an ideal replacement for acetal, nylon and PET as well as stainless steel, brass, bronze and aluminum. It has all the necessary FDA, USDA, and 3-A compliances for direct food contact applications."
One reason for its growing popularity is its outstanding chemical resistance to sanitizing chemicals containing chlorine.
It is being increasingly used to replace PET-P in components because of its excellent wear resistance and lower coefficient of friction.
Machining stock is available in rod and slab for fabrication of components for food processing equipment including: cams, filler components, rollers, food pistons, valves, valve bodies, gears, wear strips, bushings and bearings.
