THIN, SOFT CAST FOAM
Rogers Corporation introduced a thin cast version of its high performance PORON(r) urethane foam materials for making soft gaskets used in electronics applications. The new material is the thinnest (21 mils) version of PORON 4701-30 material, the softest foam in the 4701 product line. The thin materials are supported on (2 mil) PET film for stability during the fabrication of close tolerance parts. The film will remain with the fabricated component for greater ease of assembly with the finished product. The thin cast material has been developed for very thin gaskets, seals, and pads that ruggedize and protect sensitive electronic components , pagers, cellular telephones, hand held computers, and similar equipment. The thin cast material offers low fogging, low outgassing, and high resistance to compression set. Typically, fabricators will add adhesive and die cut materials into gaskets, pads and seals.
