ULTRA-LONG OPEN TIME ADHESIVE
Advanced Adhesive Systems, Inc. introduced its new AAS 5350 structural methacrylate for bonding fiberglass, composites, thermoplastics (ABS, PVC, Acrylic, PETG, HIPS, Engineered Plastic, Alloys & Blends), metal, wood, and other materials. The new system is unlike any other structural methacrylate in the industry. At room temperature beads of AAS 5350 have an open time in excess of 90 minutes, yet when parts are assembled the adhesive fixtures in about 30-45 minutes in bondlines up to 0.125 inches. This unique property makes it ideal for many applications where long beads must be dispensed or when time-consuming prebonding operations must be done. The long open time can allow for shift changes or breaks between dispensing and assembly; it will fill gaps up to 1 inch; the product usually bonds without surface preparation or primers and has outstanding environmental resistance.
