MELT-PROCESSIBLE RUBBER
Advanced Polymer Alloys announced that its Alcryn(r) Melt-Processible Rubber offers superior properties over soft thermoplastic elastomers.
MPR is a breakthrough material for manufacturers looking for a more cost-effective way to manufacture quality products with the durable, physical properties and warm feel of rubber," said David Santoleri, Vice President. It can be processed on standard thermoplastic equipment at the highest throughput rates possible.
Stress/strain comparison tests show that soft thermoplastic elastomers (TPEs) fail to meet the requirements of the ASTM definition of rubber. In tests of elasticity, mechanical resiliency, wear, frictional properties, only melt-processible rubber exhibited the linear stress/strain performance characteristics of rubber, providing outstanding flexibility and the true soft feel and appearance of a quality rubber.
It also outperformed soft TPEs in durability and weatherability, abrasion resistance, high coefficient of friction, chemical and oil resistance, and environmental resistance.
