FIRE-RATED EXTRUSION COMPOUND
KYDEX(r) P26, a new acrylic/PVC extrusion compound for profile and tubing, offers extreme impact resistance, chemical resistance, and fire retardancy. The new compound offers Notched Izod Impact Resistance of 15 ft.-lbs./in., reportedly higher than other rigid PVCs, ABS, PC, and PC/ABS. It also carries fire retardancy ratings and is said to resist a broad spectrum of harsh chemicals, corrosives, and petroleum products, making it suitable for components intended for recreational and business equipment, building products, and aircraft interiors. The compound is derived from formulations developed for the extrusion of KYDEX sheet products marked for thermoforming, membrane pressing, and fabrication of components requiring exceptional durability and fire retardancy.
