PTFE/METAL MATERIAL
3P announced the introduction of Fluometal(r), a self-lubricating material that has all the advantages of metal plus the exceptional characteristics of PTFE. It is ideal for bushings and slide bearings used in a variety of applications including valves, actuators, pneumatic cylinders and automotive components.
The product, consisting of an expanded or perforated metal sheet inserted between two PTFE layers, offers rigidity, excellent durability and high compression resistance. The metal sheet, normally stainless steel, provides strength and workability while the PTFE layers provide non-stick characteristics, low friction, corrosion resistance and a wide temperature range, even in dry running conditions. The PTFE layers can be different thicknesses on both sides of the metal sheet and may vary from 0.1 to 1 mm.
Fluometal sheet is available in 0.5, 0.8 and 1.0 mm thicknesses. Sheets are 300 mm wide and available in any length to suit the end user, and can be formed in a variety of ways, including punching and rolling.
