FOAMED PVC EXTRUSION
Novablend 8888, a new flame retardant PVC compound for foamed profile extrusion, produces a lightweight, weatherable structure having a uniform cellular core and high-gloss skin, according to Tina Palombo, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Novatec Plastics Corporation. The extruded, blown compound ranges in density from .55 to .65, equivalent to that of lighter woods, and reportedly offers similar nailing and sawing characteristics. The PVC blend offers extreme chemical resistance and weath-erability and can carry a fire retardancy rating of UL94-V0, making it suitable for a broad range of semi-structural interior and exterior profiles, such as window moldings, fence components, office partition caps, picture frames, etc. The compound is paintable, readily embossed, and offered in light and pastel custom colors.
