PLASTIC PIPE THE FASTEST GROWING PIPE MATERIAL THROUGH THE YEAR 2003
Pipe demand in the U.S. is forecast to increase 2.4 percent per annum to 14.7 billion feet in the year 2003, stimulated by needs to upgrade pipe networks. Gains will reflect pipe's pivotal role in the rebuilding of deteriorating sewer, drain, oil and natural gas distribution networks, and the replacing of aging or undersized concrete, corrugated metal and other pipe systems. Plastic pipe will exhibit the fastest growth because of its light weight, corrosion resistance, long service life and lower installed costs compared to other materials. These and other trends are presented in Plastic & Competitive Pipe, a new study from The Freedonia Group, Inc.
