Prime Plastics, maker of Primeweld thermoplastic welding materials, now stocks - or can make in hours - standard color rounds and triangles ranging from 1/16" to 1/2" in over 30 commonly welded thermoplastics. They ship hundreds of choices in coils, reels, or straight lengths up to eight feet.
"Successful welding absolutely depends on having rod that's compatible - not necessarily identical, but compatible - with the type of plastic being joined," says Prime Plastics President, Bob Miller. "Also, the extrusion size and shape need to fit the joint and the welding tool."
The company will still make custom and "semi-custom" products for customers who need to match special colors or develop a one-of-a-kind welding tool. A typical service is making matching welding rod from scraps of the sheet or other material being fabricated.
