NEW POLYCARBONATE PLANT

LG DOW Polycarbonate Ltd. recently broke ground on their new polycarbonate plant at their Yochon Petrochemical Industrial Complex. LG DOW Polycarbonate Ltd. is a 50/50 joint venture of LG Chemical Ltd., Korea and The Dow Chemical Company, Midland, Michigan, U.S.A. This plant, which will ultimately have an annual capacity of 130,000 metric tons, is scheduled to be operational in the first half of the year of 2001.

Completion of this plant marks LG DOW's entrance into the developing Asian market outside of Japan. This market has witnessed a rise in demand for polycarbonate products of more than 10 percent annually.
