POLYCARBONATE TUBE GUARDS

Tri-Lite Plastics, Inc. has seen a 10-15% increase in sales for tube guards produced with polycarbonate, recently approved by the National Sanitation Foundation.

The tube guards are primarily extruded from Bayer Corporation's Makrolon® polycarbonate pellets. Bayer was the first to receive a listing for UV Stabilized Polycarbonate by the NSF International. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration has, for a number of years, mandated tube guards, the protective sleeve over a fluorescent bulb, in a refrigerator or freezer case. The tube guards are distributed through plastics distributors.
