PIPING SYSTEM

NIBCO, INC. is manufacturing a new push-to-connect fitting that makes the assembly of plastic piping systems quicker and easier by eliminating the need for conventional threaded or solvent-cemented connections.

The new Chemtrol TruConnect™ fittings are designed specifically to work with their Chem-Aire® piping systems that are used in compressed-air applications in industrial and commercial environments.

Made of molded ABS, the fittings feature a gripper ring fabricated from Type 316 stainless steel and an "O" ring seal made of shatter-resistant Viton® (Viton is a registered trademark of the DuPont Co.) These inner components make a strong, leak-proof connection simply by pushing the fitting firmly onto the pipe. The grip ring holds the pipe, while the O-ring seals the connections.

Because no primers or glues are involved, installers no longer have to wait hours for the connections to dry completely. Once system assembly is finished, it is immediately ready for normal, pressurized use.

Though rugged and impact resistant, the TruConnect joint can be quickly disengaged by the installer in three easy steps, using a simple plastic disconnect tool that is sold separately. The disconnection process does not undermine the integrity of either the pipe or the fitting, so both components can be reused.

The fittings are available in five sizes: 1/2", 3/4", 1", 1-1/2" and 2" and are rated at 150 psi @ 73° F.
