POLYIMIDE MACHINING PLATE
A new brochure from Albany International
describes Pyropel HD, a high-purity thermoset polyimide machining stock ideal
for the manufacture of parts subjected to high temperatures or chemical attack.
With temperature resistance to 550° F, the material exceeds the upper
continuous use temperature limits of engineering grade thermoplastics such as
PEEK and Torlon and is comparable to other thermoset polyimides such as Vespel
and Duratron. Yet, because of a proprietary compression molding process that
significantly reduces manufacturing cost, Pyropel HD costs up to 40-60%
less.
Pyropel HD is available for immediate
delivery from stock in standard 12" x 12" plates in thicknesses up to
1 ". Special rings and rod stock are also available. Typical applications
include: plasma etch chamber parts; clamp rings; confinement rings; wafer boat
holders and adapters; wafer combs; soldering fixtures; high-pressure thermal
spacers in plastic processing equipment; rotor and vane tips for gas turbines;
and valve parts, seals, and manifolds for chemical and fluid handling pumps and
equipment.
