CATALOGING SYSTEM FOR CUTTING TOOLS
ProTool(TM) is a software program for
companies to use for measuring, calibrating and cataloging cutting tools. The
program is easily used on a standard Pentium class PC to record and catalog
tooling information such as measurements, where and when it was purchased, what
machine(s) it has been run on, last time it was sharpened (how the tools
measurements changed) and many other pertinent details for each tool.
Tooling measurements are supplied through
the PC's serial port from an Accurate Technology ProStand(TM) measurement system or
any other manufacturers measurement system that will output information via
RS232. Bitmap images of the specified tools can be used to visually display
specific measurement and reference points during the calibration and measurement
process. This tooling information can easily be recalled to record new
measurements of that tool (after regrinding) as well as for production analysis,
wear analysis, and tracking by vendor and shop location.
