NSF 51 CERTIFICATION FOR FOUR EASTMAN COPOLYESTERS
Eastman Chemical Company announced that NSF International has certified four Eastman copolyesters for use in construction of commercial food equipment, according to the American National Standards Institute/NSF 51. The approved copolyesters are Eastar copolyester GN046, Provista copolymer, DuraStar DS 1010 and DS 2010 polymers.
Jimmy Dickerson, Eastman business market manager for consumer materials said, "NSF 51 standard certification will help DuraStar polymers and Provista copolymer penetrate point-of-purchase markets, especially the food display markets. It will also provide entry for Eastar copolyester GN046 in applications that come in contact with water."
DurStar DS 1010 and DS2010 polymers, exhibiting good chemical resistance, high clarity and toughness, are used for injection-molded displays, household appliances, toys and other consumer items. Provista copolymer, featuring toughness and high clarity, finds use in profile extrusion applications. Eastar copolyester GN046 is used for extrusion blow molded containers and has good melt strength for molding large containers.
An independent, nonprofit corporation, NSF International ensures that consistent standards for environmental and public health safety are practiced. NSF Standard 51 establishes minimum public health and sanitation requirements for materials used in the construction of commercial food equipment.
