Optical Grade Polyurethane Sheet

Simula, Inc. introduced SIM 2025 sheet, an optical quality polyurethane for commercial applications. The material users the transparency of cast acrylic, high-impact resistance, heat stability of a performance polymer, excellent solvent resistance, and good light stability.

Simula Polymer Systems is offering the sheets of material for specialty glazing and eye shields. Other promising application areas are in electronics, lighting, medical, optics, transportation glazing, and security (bullet resistance). The SIM 2025 sheet is based on patented polyurethane technology developed by the company in the field of transparent armor.

The sheet is currently produced in standard sizes up to 2’ x 2’ and in thickness up to 0.250". It is offered in clear and transparent colors, with or without an abrasion resistant coating. They can also produce sheets that incorporate customer-specified dye packages including photochromic and laser absorptive technologies.
