Antimicrobial Compound
Ensinger Inc. announced the availability of the Agion™ antimicrobial which creates a unique dimension to your product, thereby enhancing its value. The Agion™ material is based on a silver ion delivery system that prevents the growth and migration of bacteria, yeast, mold and fungus on any product to which it is applied. Agion™ technology offers safe, effective and longest lasting protection.

Agion™ compound is a breakthrough antimicrobial compound that combines the proven inorganic antimicrobial silver ions with a patented delivery structure. The antimicrobial is a 2 to 5f micron fine white powder that can be supplied in several forms. It is able to withstand pH levels from 3 to 10 and temperatures up to 800°C, making it compatible with virtually any manufacturing and operating environment. The unique but simple structure is what enables it to control the release of silver ions, maximizing its effectiveness and longevity.

Agion™ antimicrobial protection is safe. It is the only antimicrobial product with a two-year chronic toxicity study. In an acute oral toxicity study, Agion™ antimicrobial was shown to be less toxic than ordinary table salt. It has passed an ISO-10993-1 biocompatibility test that is necessary in medical implant approvals.

The antimicrobial compound has been registered for: EPA Consumer, Industrial and Commercial Products; EPA Food Contact; EPA Drinking Water Contact; NSF 51 for Food Service Usage; Master Files on record with the FDA; and Agion™ is included in FDA's Inventory of Food Contact Substances.
