High Clarity Copolyester
Eastman Chemical Company now offers Spectar Clear copolyester. The new copolyester achieves measurably improved sheet clarity and edge color while maintaining the performance characteristics for which Spectar copolyester has become known in the industry.

"A direct result of our drive to offer differentiated products and new, innovative solutions to our customers, Spectar Clear is the latest entry in our expanding portfolio of Eastman Specialty Plastics," notes Dr. Phillip Griswold, Vice President and General Manager of Eastman's Specialty Plastics business. "It offers the thermoformability and ease of fabrication of Spectar copolyester along with significantly improved clarity."

Spectar Clear also offers approximately double the notch impact strength, 50% higher instrumented impact strength and better chemical resistance when compared to traditional Spectar.

Spectar's ease of fabrication allows for versatility in design. It can be laser cut, routed, welded, drilled, die-punched, bent hot or cold, or joined by screws, rivets or bolts. It can also be cut on conventional table, band or radial-arm saws with blades commonly used for plastic. Spectar can be vacuum-formed at low temperatures without pre-drying the sheet and can be polished using commercial edge-finishing equipment, sanding, solvents, flame-polishing or buffing. Surface scratches can be removed using a common heat gun.
