Automatic Tool Changer
Accu-Router, Inc. introduced a new high-speed automatic tool changer that can accommodate one or two power draw bar spindles. The new ATC’s simple design leads to high reliability, speed and efficiency and the ability to service two spindles at one time.

The new automatic tool changer incorporates a linear design where five or more tool pockets are positioned close together in two rows with each pocket/tool holder being automatically positioned with an individual air slide. A ten position ATC can then be programmed to have two pockets available for tool pick-up or drop-off in any desired combination. Servo lateral adjustment between the two machine spindles allows maximum flexibility with this ATC. The two rows of tool pockets are guarded while not in use. Exit and entry brush segments help keep the tool holders clean. Both rows have hinged door quick access.

The linear positioning design eliminates the need for an additional axis and its expense. Misalignment with spindles is not an issue. High reliability is the direct benefit. Changing two spindles at one time cuts tool change time in half.
