Spartech Expansion
Spartech Corporation completed the purchase of certain
assets and entered into a supply agreement with
Wilbert, Inc.’s TriEnda Division located in Portage,
Wisconsin. The acquired business is a manufacturer of
extruded sheet primarily for the TriEnda line of reusable
shipping and material handling containers. Spartech will
service this more than 40 million pounds of business uti-lizing
the Portage-based extrusion lines and assets
acquired in connection with the purchase. Practically all of
the personnel currently working in the sheet extrusion
division of TriEnda will be Spartech employees. The operation
will become Spartech’s 22nd Plastics facility.
Spartech’s Chairman, President and CEO, Bradley B.
Buechler, stated, “This acquisition, representing more
than 40 million pounds of growth for Spartech, is a key
component of our strategic expansions cornerstone for
growth which includes focusing on outsourcing opportunities
with current captive producers of plastics products.
Last year we established a cross-functional ‘outsourcing
team’ targeting businesses that produce their own plastics
materials, but where such operations are not core to their
business models. Whether the process is sheet extrusion,
compounding, profile extrusion or molded products, this
team is charged with identifying, analyzing, negotiating,
and closing transactions with these companies. The
TriEnda acquisition, with a purchase price of approximately
$5.5 million, represents our fifth such transaction
completed during the last two years.”
