New Black Grade of KetronŽ Peek Stock Shapes
Quadrant Engineering Plastic Products has added
to its inventory a new, black polyetheretherketone
(PEEK). It is the latest addition to its unique range of
these high-performance materials, which feature chemical- and stress-cracking resistance at elevated temperatures
and long-term, high-mechanical strength. The
new grade, KetronŽ PEEK 1000 Black, is ideal for
machining critical components, where aesthetics are
important.
The material offers outstanding steam and wear resistance:
products machined from it can be used continuously
to 480°F (250°C) in hot water or steam without
permanent loss in physical properties. The material has a
continuous service temperature, in air, of 480° F (with-out
load), and it has a V-O flammability rating and
exhibits very low smoke and toxic gas emission when
exposed to flame.
Other key features include: very low moisture-absorption;
inherently good wear- and abrasion-resistance and
excellent chemical resistance. The material is resistant to
weak acids, alkalies, ketones, ethers, esters (acetone),
hydrocarbons, chlorinated solvents, alcohols and inorganic
salt solutions.
KetronŽ PEEK 1000 Black is now available from stock in
a broad range of rod diameters, with special sizes and
shapes available on a make-to-order basis.
